More million sellers are found on the most successful console in one generation than arguably the least successful console of the previous generation?

Shocking.

Yea but even though there is a big difference in userbase the length of ownership is quite low.  Only 14 months ago the wii had a 13 million userbase, that's less than 1/3 of what it is now.

14 months is over a quarter of the generally accepted console lifetime (4 years).  Saying "Only 14 months ago" makes it sound like that's not a long period of time when in reality that's a very long timespan.  The Wii's sales are plenty impressive by themselves so don't feel the need to play semantic games to make it sound more amazing.

As for length of ownership, when does a console owner typically acquire the most games for that console?  I'd go with the first few months after purchase followed closely by holidays.  How about you?
