That thread is funny, though a lot of the points were valid then. In Summer '07, there arguably were better, more diverse gaming experiences on the Wii and/or the 360. By Fall '08, the PS3 really got its legs under it with a broad lineup.
In the first year to 18 months of owning the next gen consoles, I bought Wii games over PS3 titles by a near 5:1 margin. That turned in the summer of '08 (basically a little while after Wii Fit, Brawl, and Kart). After purchasing those 3 titles, I have since bought 13 new or previously used PS3 games, and ZERO games for the Wii. Looking at future release schedules, I think it's a safe bet that at least the next five games I buy will also all be PS3 games.
The OP's source article, despite the obvious bias given the publication, brings up a valid point. The PS3 haters had ammo then. They do not have any ammo now. February/March is going to be a very interesting stretch for Sony.
