Nintendo - Mario Tennis GC - View Post

$30, so a pretty good deal if you ask me.

I actually would argue that the tennis in Wii Sports is already very deep if you spend enough time with it; you can control lobbing or net hits, force, place your shots with great accuracty, etc, all with precise motions. The lack of control of your character's movement really only helps you to focus even more on the swinging, and makes it so that my girlfriend, who has little patience for the typical convoluted tennis game controls, can compete equally (she's actually quite good at it, and has just picked up the "feel" of different swings and ball placement without having to memorize any button combinations).

I would, however, love to have an additional game with nunchuk control, tournaments, crazy power shots and all that. So $30 seems like a steal, if it in any way lives up to expectations.

I agree with you regarding the depth of Wii Sports tennis. I was very disappointed with Top Spin 3 as it introduced button presses and analog stick moves to control your swing, which really made the game more a gimmick and less of a simulation, compared to Wii Sports. However, without controlling the positioning of the player, Mario Tennis would me too much simular to Wii Sports to be worthy of the price. I am glad to hear that a nunchuck control is a possibility. I would be even happier to discover they included some sort of a championship mode and the possibility to turn off the special tricks.
