The "big hype titles" failed in relation to hype they got and competition has a few "evergreen" titles out, which you can't beat with "better tech", since they weren't in the tech race to begin with. The aspect to competition for PS3 is completely different from the situation PSX was in. |
On top of that, the Playstation performed better than the competition they had early on (the Sega Saturn) and by the time their main competition came out (the N64) sales had picked up to a level that the Playstation was showing the dominance that it became known for ...
