Odd how most of the gaming community across the internet considers this to be the final touch in confirming it as fully exclusive. How is it that the devs of Unreal Tournament 3 can talk openly of their future projects on the PC and 360, but not Ubisoft? Despite the fact they are also under contract. Please fill me in, (you seem to know an awful lot about the contracts.) You've already been pretty much shot down on this by the others, but ok. There is no reason whatsoever to suggest that this is, or that anyone believes this is some kind of final touch. General consensus is and has always been that Haze would be a timed exclusive. UT3 was coming to all three platforms this year and Sony paid for this years exclusivity at the last moment. There is no way epic could have pretended the PC and 360 versions didnt exist and Sony knows it, so it is therefore not part of the contract that the devs have to shutup about it.
Haze is a different story. There was never any suggestion that it would come to PC and 360 this year. Its always been assumed that it would come next year, and as such, Sony paid a little extra for UBI to stay quiet about the other versions. As can be seen from the part of the article you DELIBERATELY DIDNT POST, its made quiet clear the other versions exist, but this cant be officially stated due to contractual obligations.
Hilarious really. You speak as if your some kind of insider to whats really going on. Also humerous that you would throw in some type of mudslinging where you accuse Sony of "paying a little extra to keep things quiet". Uninformed assumptions and you know know what it means to assume. Besides, hasn't it always been Microsoft paying people off to keep exclusives? Gee, I think they just did that recently in buying off Paramount and Dreamworks to exclusively support a failing format...but I digress. Haze, in the past, has always been seen as a timed exclusive and it has already been treated as such by the media and the gaming companies themselves. In fact, the Free Radical, Ubisoft, and Haze websites ALL SAID that the game was going multiplatform. Public announcement was how the term "timed exclusive" got out. Well, the other platforms were removed from the site except for PS3...kinda similar to what happened with Beautiful Katamari but this time the PS3 scores on this one. Besides! You can't really go by "general consensus" because, as I repeatedly point out in other more major false views that use the word "consensus", a general viewpoint of public agreement does not mean that an event will or wont happen. Kinda like how millions of gamers "thinking" that Haze will still go to 360 still won't make it so. It's an official statement and the websites have all been altered to follow the statement. Sure, their may be a port somewhere down the road but as Ubisoft has now said themselves....don't waste your time looking for it. Oh, and because the websites had already listed multi-platform until recently means that there wasn't any type of non-disclosure clause previously in the contract and I doubt Ubisoft would rewrite a contract just to keep their lips sealed. What it could really mean is that the 360 (gasp!) isn't going to get a game and people will have to face it because, and i'm not lying here either, not everybody likes the 360 or wants every game to be on it. Besides, Sony might actually be pulling a Microsoft and they're actually starting to let the green do the talking. Sure, they aren't as rich as Microsoft in some aspects but it would be nice to see of Sony is actually starting to play hardball now. |
Wow, and he accuses me of mudslinging i ask you? So we have accusations that HD DVD is failing even though it now has three major exclusive studios and is selling MORE standalone players than blu-ray. If this guy had actually read the article he would have noticed all the PR speak for "we dont want to lie, so we cant tell you the PC/360 versions arnt coming, but we like Sony's money, so we wont tell you they are either."
There WILL be a port somewhere down the road. It will be in the first five months of next year, sticking well clear of Halo and taking Sony's exclusivity money on the way. I wont waste my time looking for the Haze port, because when i want it, I know where it is...sitting pretty in Q1 2008
