I am not surprised that Lair didn't rate highly, although I am surprised that it scored under 5. Their have been rumblings that the game wasn't very good for the past few months. Factor 5 hasn't made an excellent game since Rogue Squadron 2 launched on Gamecube. I never figured Lair would be a 9+ game, but up until recently I always assumed that it would be in the 7 to 8 range. Given the budget and the dev time, Factor 5 should have done better.
I think what bugs me most is the technical problems. Factor 5 has always been one of the best devs at squeezing maximum performance out of hardware. They did things on Turrican on Genesis that most devs couldn't do on SNES. Rogue Squadron on N64 was technicallly impressive with or without the expansion pack. Rogue Squadron 2 on GC was so impressive at the time, no one thought it was in game footage. Even Rogue Squadron 3, which had horrible ground missions, was technically impressive. RS3 pushed more polygons with all effects that any game of produced last generation. So for them to bothc Lair's gameplay and game engine (Frame rate issues) is not a good sign.
Diomedes, if you feel IGN in biased against PS3, post some data to back it up. I know with the 1UP issue Nanzatips posted data showing that on average 1UP rates Wii titles far lower than they do PS3 and 360 games. If IGN is doing the same thing show it.
