I think you are right with this point. But sony did buy some major studios in their ps1 and ps2 era. When they entered the market however, they did nothave any...and using the deep pockets they purchased the likes of Naughty dog(who made 3DO and genesis games before), Psygnosis (did Genesis and Snes), Zipper Interactive (PC games), Guerrila Games, Eidetic (symphon filter)...
They also bought 3rd part exclusives like crazy back in the ps1 days. Toshiden was boguht by sony to counter virtua fighter. Ridge Racer to counter daytona...etc. I think this is what Ronster 316 is reffering to...
In any case they do have their home grown studios at this point tho...
