I am confused at your post in referance to mine. To make money Sony has to leave the PS3 price were it is. Dropping the price means Sony dragging the PS3 through losses to make it sell better. No matter how you look at it loosing money just to try to be able to claim second place is bad buisness. Loosing money to keep the PS3 alive was one thing, but doing so for bragging rights is another.

If Sony sticks with the $399 price point through all of 2009. Markets the crap out of the extreamly impressive games line-up they have coming in 09. Loosens up the DRM on the Video store, while adding a music store, and marketing them both. Gets Home up to speed, with new content every week, and tons of advertising. If Sony can do all of that, and mrket it well, they can sell another 10M PS3's at $399, and that will be fine. If next year ends; Wii - 80M, 360 - 43M, and PS3 - 30M there is nothing to worry about.

Sorry for the confusion. Sony should break even in 2009, so dropping the price soon after will help the cause. Sony can market the crap out of the PS3 all they want. It will not increase sales. What saved Sony's ass in 2008 to begin with was a price drop and MGS4. Sony got into the game knowing they would be at a loss because they put Blu Ray in the system. They have to try to be as competitive as possible. Acting like nothing is wrong will decrease marketshare.
