360 has 512 DDR3 total. Same. I'm guessing whey they say 512MB they really mean around 480.... It's less. Like on and 80GB HDD you really just have 74GB. For the 256's in ps3 they are really around 230.

No, these aren't the actual numbers. But it's some where around there.
My point is, the difference is very small.

your confusing storage memory with main memory or ram which isn't permanent, they are very different things.

I know there's a difference between the to. But the sizes and amounts that they hold don't work in the same way?
