I really find it hilarious when a narrow group of gamers is terrified that gaming is becoming more mainsteram and people stop associating it with Geeks in basements. That is a good thing.

Gaming becoming like movie industry? Because of the Wii ? You mean Games like Halo3, Gears of War 2 , Gran Turismo 5 are not big budgeted block busters that are targeting mass market? Because they are like Michael Bay movies (especially halo and gears).
Even in current situation there are plenty of brilliant, innovative and fresh movies coming out every year, games? Look at the best sellers on every console and you will find that innovation does not sell, at least Wii offers a chance to create something amazing with less risk of financial disaster, and some people do try and get success, Like Suda 51 with NMH or Capcom with Z&W.
