I disagree. I want a multi-media beast like the PS3 and PSP. Just because it's focused more on multimedia than previous consoles doesn't mean it's the reason for the decrease in sales. Look at the Wii. Could you browse the internet, check the weather, news, view saved photos, and socialize with avatars on the N64 or Gamecube??? NO! Now compare the sales.
Who the hell didn't expect SONY to eventually drift in this direction?? In the PS1 era they were tooting their plans to have the Playstation brand a Major competitor in the PC field some day. PS1 was step one, creating a linux kit for the ps2 was probably step two. And look at the PS3 today, only thing SONY didn't calculate in was that their competitors [be it Nintendo, SEGA, MS, etc when ever] would up their game in the future like MS and Nintendo are today...
