It's arrogance and ignorance rolled into one.

Some assume that developers taking out time to make games that don't appeal to them means they won't be able to make the games that do appeal to them.

In truth you are partly correct, in that it is not the Wii that is stopping developers being able to make games for them.... HD games are taking much much more time and money to make, and are not making any additional money in revenue than games from 10 years ago (if not significantly less revenue) So developers/publishers are not making money, and if they don't go out of business because of it, then it is still taking much longer to make the games so there are fewer of the games they want. And of course if developers do go out of business then there would be no games.

Wanting better graphics is fine, but it's best to let the technology come to us, rather than pushing for it too early. The former means we can still have graphical increases, and while they might be not so significant as they have been, they will not push costs and effort up so fast.
