Opening up your wallet in order to win is a strategy that's sustainable in the long term for Microsoft. They have enough money to do it.

Loosing money indefinitely to "win" is a shitty strategy for every company even if they make enough money otherwise.

Tell me what the sales are and you tell me if Sony can continue to lose exclusivity to more and more games. I know several people that say why would I get a PS3 when I can get a 360? It has almost all of the same games and is cheaper.

Yeah Sony needs to lower the price of the PS3 not buy some exclusives. With God of War3, Killzone2, Uncharted2 and hopefully Gran Tourismo 5 they do not need to pay for exclusives 2009. They need simply to lower the price so a 80Gb PS3 doesn't cost twice what a 60Gb 360 costs (amazon.co.uk 159 pound vs. 279 pound today) The PS3 has enough value to support a higher price but the current difference is laughable, Sony needs to fix this or they will loose out. At the moment I would buy a 360 over a PS3. I think its pretty astonishing that one of the most experienced producers of consumer electronics isn't able to produce a 2 year old piece of electronics cheaper.

Microsoft has Halo, which regardless of your tastes, is the most popular
shooting franchise in the world.

Yes and they get an expansion pack 2009. Hardly a killer feature.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but Sony really can't lower their price much more.  They are losing way too much money as it is.
