PC development is in far greater trouble than console development, at least for the non-mainstream PC gaming community.  DRM is so rampant that there are literally horror stories told about the effort necessary just to get recently released games to run on PC nowadays.  Pissing off a sizeable chunk of your customers is never a good way to stay alive, but pissing off practically ALL of your customers is a phenomenally worse thing to do.

Exactly, and that's even worse than consoles. That's why you should have already guessed I didn't mean quite that. I meant smaller downloadable games. They just need a decent DRM system and then the games. Besides, most casuals don't know about DRM and most hardcore players I've seen don't care about DRM even if they don't like it. (Yes, that is very unfortunate.) And in case you still disagree, Spore sales say hi to you.
