Great post!

Nintendo already has a lot of IPs that havn't even made it out this gen: Kirby, Star Fox, F Zero, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda (Twilight Princess was a ported GC game), Luigi's Mansion, etc. So while I'd like to see some old franchises revived, Nintendo still has lots of more current stuff that needs to come out as well.

As for increasing development, Nintendo is very careful as far as that goes because they are very careful to maintain their company philosophy right down to every employee. A lot of 3rd party developers don't 'get it' in Nintendo's opinion and would not be valued by them. However, I do agree. There will likely never be a better time for Nintendo to grow by buying some other developers, especially Western ones like Free Radical or Factor 5 (who they already enjoy a good relationship with) thanks to the strength of the Yen and Nintendo's huge profit vs western developers red ink. Heck Nintendo could probably buy out EA if they wanted (but I'm sure they wouldn't want to).

New IPs - They have had fantastic success with casual fare: Nintendogs, Brain Age, Wii series, Brain Academy, Cooking. They should continue to develop these types of new IPs to continue to engage new gamers and continue to expand the industry into video entertainment instead of just 'games'.

Titles crossing platforms: Yes, absolutely. I'd love to see a true Pokemon MMO on Wii as it would be HUGE. Also Nintendogs would work on Wii and Brain Age for WiiWare. SSB on DS?? Sure, why not?

I also concur with your thoughts on boosting Japan sales and VC and WW as well. A major IP to spotlight WW is a great idea and sales on VC games would definately get me to purchase more.
