Seriously metroid is in no way intended for casual gamers. Its not like this is Mario Party, the game was never supposed to be accessible for everybody.
It sounds sort of like his definition of epic was a linear shooter where thinking is not required and endlessly mashing the 'A' button would result in a spiffy cutscenes, after which the game would continue on by rinsing and repeating the process until the end credits.
