Wait, piracy is a bad thing?

casual gaming is hurting us colonelrambo.

I did a double take and then went "HEYYY WAIT A MINUTE!" You should take I only post fair and balanced journalism off your post now :P

High game production costs and corporate hype behind games is what is destroying and going to destroy our industry if we don't do something about it.

The cycle goes as so, you take millions to produce a game, the only way to make that money back is to get killer sales, so then people hype their game as the second coming of the "hardcore" gamers dream, it comes out and it can take one of two routes.

  • It gets the sales it needs but everyone admits it doesn't live up to the hype usually a lot shorter then expected and then hope the next one is better.
  • It doesn't get the sales and then the developer is out millions and in some cases closes up.

The first route doesn't hurt our gaming industry that much just exploits the masses and the HYPE train which is one reason the game industry isn't taken seriously.  The second IS killing the industry as the developers are what makes the industry, you kill them off, no more games, no more industry, period.
