People don't seem to understand, SE included, 360 is not a JRPG console. Microsoft has been trying to push it, but 360 was made for the western core. Shooters sell, western RPGs sell, mostly stuff that appeals to Americans.

That being said, play station was always seen as a RPG console, xbox was always seen as a shooter console. It's seemed to flip, well both consoles wanted to get a part of the other sides action, without seeing the consequences. The low sales, etc. Do shooters do well on the PS3? Compared to install based/region? Hell no. Do RPGs do well on 360 compared to install based/region? Hell no.

Take the best selling JRPG on the 360, it sold 224k it's first week. Thats lost odyssey. It did 50k it's first week in Japan. Which might seem bad but that is EXTREMELY good for the install base and what kind of console it is. 224k, for a first week is respectable. It sold 0.85 million to date. Which is good, most games don't see that. Games like tales of vesperia? Didn't that only sell about 260k world wide to date? It might reach 600k LTD when it's released in others. But still, people think WKC is shitty sales. WKC did better then lost odyssey did in it's first 4 days, then lost odyssey did in it's first week world wide. By the end of the week WKC might reach 280k for Japan alone, when it's out in america and europe it's total first week for all three regions will be around 700k.

But people always talk about attache rate as being a success. If you have 100million people with a console and your game sells 50k copies, it's a failure right? Not quite. Look at the PSP, with it's number of consoles FF dissida should of did much better! Except for the fact as time goes by, more people buy a console and skew the attache rate. Hardcore audience buys a console first. They usually only make up 5% of the total console numbers. Next comes the core audience which is about 15%, this is a total of around 20% of lifetime sales, these are the people games are usually meant for. Then when price drops, the "waiters" come in with around 10%, these people usually don't buy games unless they are of a specific genre etc. When price drops extremely low, the lasy 70% of people are casuals. Not to say casuals are bad but they skew numbers to bad. The difference between the consoles this generation is WII got all audiences at once. That and added a few audiences, and the core and hardcore make up such a small percentage hardcore games won't sell for it anymore. Games like wii fit are selling fucking 20 million units? Wii sports 20 million? Even miyomoto is admitting he wants to make more games like wii music. WII FUCKING MUSIC. Is it because he even likes it? No. It pushes units. A lot of units.

Anyway went off on a tangent, guess my point was, 360 has a larger software attach rate, WKC did better in 1 region in 4 days then the best selling JRPG did in 1 week world wide.
