I don't think its really a biger deal now than 10 years ago.
but I think the biggest affect that used games/sales has is a larger amount of 1st day sales. I think a great deal of people use trade ins to soften the price of whatever the new hype game is, so basically it saturates the market with million sellers that may not really deserve it, but with trade ins its basically an extended rental.
