So the thread premise is wanting things to discuss rather than things to actually play.
Message board discussion doesn't get Nintendo money, and even as publicity it only goes so far.
Look at Okami. Great game, but it relied almost solely on hardcore enthusiasm to sell either version, and look how far that got.
Nintendo isn't feeding steady announcements any more. They will market what will work best.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
