Sony are still selling products at premium prices at a time when the world is in economy crysis. So you go into a store and before you are a selection of LCD 40" 1080p tv. The first one is a Sony bravia selling at £800, the second one a samsung selling at £700 and the third one is a philips selling at £600, all TVs do the same thing so - joe public goes for the cheaper option. I also belive when it comes to blu-ray players most people would want a standalone player, e.g my mother wouldn't know how to switch the PS3 on, let alone operate PS3 as a blu-ray player but she can use her DVD player with her eyes shut, see my point.
