Appeasing a fanboy friend of a brother is something that gains you nothing in life at all.  That IS a bad decision.  What one needs to do is tell the brother's friend he needs to stop be such a fanboy and get a life.  At times like these, it would pay to own a Jaguar with Tempest 2000 to make such a fanboy shut up.
