If anything the Fam 40/40 score on SSBB is another indication that Western reviewers are harder on Japanese games. Is there a single example where Famits has given a lower score to a JRPG than the score on Gamerankings?

I don't have any argument against WKC per se, but rather that I fail to see anything about it to justify it selling more than 500,000 copies tops in the West (which would be great since the X360 JRPGs usually seem to stop at 350,000 copies). Hype is near 0 on Western gaming sites.

Well, I dunno... FolkSoul (not same genre) maybe had better than perdicted sales on the PS3? So, maybe the strongest argument would be that all these JRPG hungry fans in the West that bought a PS3 for FF13 might flock to White Knight Chronicles.

Give me a database for their scores and I will gladly search through it and find a shining example. Haze got a 34/40 from Famitsu and we see how that ended up. But gamerankings score do not correlate very well to sales, so this is mostly just a moot point. The Xbox 360 RPGs are not a perfect analog for this game though. Europe is heavily inclined to buy more games for the PS3 for whatever reasons (as seen in a few of the multi-plats) and could easily help push it past the 350k barrier you impose. Last gen there were plenty of JRPGs that went well past that number as well, which makes me think it has more to do with the games released than it does the genre they belong to.
