I noticed this ages ago with Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. => Super Mario 64
Super Mario Bros. 2 => Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Bros. 3 => Super Mario Galaxy
The Mario series was the only series I'd really noticed it with. And for that pattern to repeat itself, you would expect a fourth entry for each iteration, i.e.
Super Mario World => Super Mario Universe (?)
