I actually think that the high Wii sales in April weren't due directly to MK Wii ( althought it is still selling great many months after its launch ).
If I remember correctly in March Nintendo started to ship to the market high quantity of Wii consoles ( after the sold-out of December 2007 ) to try to meet demand thus resulting in an array of months where Wii sales were abnormally high for the season ( it still is ).
The funny thing was that the expectation for GTAIV was really high and was seen by those that don't understand the Wii success like a holy anchor that would save the HD twin's ship from the revolution.
The laughs came from these expectation being washed away by GTA selling many units but selling very few consoles from both the sides.
Wii huge sales were only the cherry on the cake in the general meltdown.
