I agree with this. I quite liked their article discussing Nintendo's "demographic change" or whatever you wish to call it. One of the few critiques of Nintendo's new strategy that wasn't swimming with inaccuracies, bad arguments, or general jackassery.

As for the OP: The podcast is called "1up Yours," i know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but in this case it might give a slight hint about the level of discourse. I never liked it from the start, long before the gaming media turned on Nintendo.

The vagabond is partially right. It might be a bit harsh, but Nintendo really hasn't been very reassuring to the core gamer. Last E3 was light on content, and none of the promising stuff at the Fall Conference really had a solid date nailed down. It's never particularly wise to leave your customers guessing, but that's just Nintendo's way.Where he's somewhat wrong is that the accepted level of discourse in game journalism is too low. Certainly there is flame-bait among politics and sports news, but that sort of thing is generally frowned upon. Jesse Jackson talked of chopping off Obama's nuts, and he was called out for it and thoroughly chastised, but jackasses run around in the game journalism all the time, and only rarely get called out. The half-truths and snarky methods printed about Nintendo should be booed down out of existence, like when a joystiq blogger claimed that it would be 2-3 years until more core games from Nintendo, but instead gamers accept this childish level of discourse

And it might partially be that. Since Nintendo is keeping everyone in the dark, the big outlets have nothing nice to say, and bitch about that fact.
