And Frosty Top.
Don't be dumb. Install base has nothing to do with sales as my examples already pointed out. And you're so dumb, you proved my point when you said that Soccer does better on PS3 in Europe since PS3 gets lots of love over there. Proving install base means nothing in this argument.
Real smart one you are. |
No. Instalbase does have something to do with sales.
It's just you and others fail to see what install base actually does.
As install base grows diversity occurs within said install bases...
Install base isn't a magically "grow your sales of one genre" machine. But it isn't useless either.
Instead it grows the sales of all genres... meaning that once you hit your "peak" for a certain genre you can add all the install base in the world... and it's going to add very little to that genres sales.
Considering how JRPGs are to Japan what FPS are to the US. It's not unreasonable to believe that X-box doesn't have a large enough share of JRPG fans to call install base size meaningless.
Of course this fact is noones fault but microsfots... but still.
Nah if you want to make install base arguements it's better to compare unpopular genres... the lower selling games are where userbase does wonders.

Agreed, but if five or six JRPGs come out on one system, and the other system has one, and that one outsells all of the other JRPGs, how can that not be a good thing?
|
Because there are 3 systems at play.
I'm sure Xbox sold shooters better then the gamecube. That didn't make the sales particularly good though.
Really all it tells a developer is that if both Sony and Microsoft are offering to fund your JRPG... and your main goal is JRPG sales and not to try and expand outside of Japan... take Sony's check.
More important is how it sells in the west. Since the west demographic is what all the japanese developers want to recapture.
