The entire industry is a bunch of unprofessional fanboys. Happy? Previous posters have explained how I felt better. I would never have thought youd be so defensive. I expect more from "professionals" In the end that I guess is what Im trying to send. 1UP has been the worst at bashing the Wii that I PERSONALLY have seen. So I had to point them out. Video game journalism is shit. It needs to mature. |
Yes, that actually satisfies me. I have no exception with saying the industry doesn't give casual games a fair shake, or pay much attention to the wii. That's true. But it is the view of almost the entire industry, and not some crusade by 1up to discredit the wii.
Videogame journalism like I said, isn't any worse than political or sports journalism. Would I like it to grow up? Of course. But I'd also like it if uber popular political commentators didn't promote songs like "Obama the Magic Negro" or stoop to publically calling political candidates "faggots". But that ain't happening any time soon. Ideally Rubang's concept of what videogame critisism should be is spot on, and hopefully in time there will be a handful of good intelligent fair critics that become popular, much in the way Tim Russert managed to be a fair objective, intelligent political commentator that rarely created a justified cause for calls of "foul". But that isn't going to change the fact that just like people watch fox news or MSNBC, people will continue to listen to 1up and IGN, and gametrailers. Even if you disagree with it's views. And if somebody comes up to offer an alternative form of "Snobcore" that shuns shooters and high budget cutting edge productions in favor of the Wii (that would still be snobcore, just the other side of the coin), you can damn well bet that will get an audience too, most likely by a number of people here.
If Rubang had a site that did what he describes, I'd be there in a heartbeat, I'd even be willing to contribute. Like Ghandi said, be the change you want to see.
