You can preach installed base, attach rates, budgets and development time 'til your mouth turns dry. It doesn't mean anything to the developers and publishers. Third parties are going to see that an original IP from a less known developer has done better than anything on the 360, JRPG or otherwise (Japan only). It will help slow traction with the 360 in eastern markets, and that's significant. |
Are you talking about WKC ?
Come on, WKC was the flagship SCEJ JRPG for the past 3 years and you are talking like it is a surprising hit when it is doing in the norm imo ( from what first day sale can mean ).
Level5 is a "less known developer" ? They have developed a lot of JRPG for SCEJ on PS2, Layton is insanely popular serie in Japan and they are the coders of Dragon Quest VIII and IX. How can they be "less known developer" than other ones in Japan ?
I remember there was a time where a Sony fan would have laugh at the 360 performance in Japan but now that the PS3 sales are so low and that MS is buying JRPG exclusive there is a need to "slow traction with the 360 in eastern markets".
