sony doesn't exactly pay for them they work with the publisher to create some kind of friendship, and if the games do well they buy the whole studio later.

Nevermind plenty of publishing houses would pay for that right.

When they payed for FF7 and 3 other Square RPGS. (Final Fantasy Tactics and 2 others.... they got right of first refusual in those 3 when they bought 7 and advertised it heavily.)

No they get to publish it because Level5 President hates Microsoft to the bone after the True Fantasy Live Online fiasco (funny to see L5 did with WKC what they wanted to achieve with TFLO).

There are many more publishers then Sony and Microsoft.
Plenty of which that would of been willing to put up cash for the right.
