| Torillian said: ah dur....I remember that thread now about which you were going to pick up. I plan to buy TLR when it comes on PS3, since I buy every JRPG anyway. I'll be interested to see if it loves up to the praise I've heard from some, but I'll definitely give it a shot. I mean hell, I bought Eternal Sonata and I didn't even particularly like the demo for that one (and I still don't get how IGN can call it an 8.7 or whatever they give it). If you want me to actually respond it's best to send me messages on VGC instead of PSN. I can never get the energy up to write out a decent message without a keyboard, and am too lazy to switch my keyboard from the PC to the PS3 for a discussion. |
You'll certainly enjoy The Last Remnant if you enjoy a more tactical & involved affair. Between the QTE critical triggers, and the massive union battles, it's a hidden gem in the 360 JRPG collection - and much better (imo) than the 360's version of Eternal Sonata.
The battle system is a mix (imo) of Ogre Battle and Chrono Trigger - Ogre Battle because your not directing 100% of the action, and Chrono Trigger because you have to be mindful of AoE attacks and various line-of-sight attacks. It's horribly flawed in some ways (technical side), but overall, it's like Dead Rising - brilliant in some areas, flawed in others.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
