Right now Sony is near breaking even with the system. If they drop the price another $50 or $100 then they are back to losing. With all of the billions they have lost already, it would be silly for them to continue on the loss road. Will Sony go under? I seriously doubt that would ever happen, however it could seriously be an end to their gaming division. Sony made several serious mistakes with the PS3, 1) Blu-Ray 2) Cell 3) The complexity of making software for the system overall. With the system being out a few years, now Blu-Ray is one of its only saving point at this time. I probably would never have purchased a PS3 without the Blu-ray player. But it was a catch 22. Without the Blu-ray player being in it from the start I probably would have owned one launch day, as long as that would have made the system a lot cheaper.

Yeah I do agree with you I think SONY takes a huge gamble with the Blu Ray just to beat Toshiba with the format war. And the PS brand takes the huge sacrifice. Oh well atleast SONY got what they want :/
