Hmm, how are any more than 0.1% of the world going to take advantage of 1920p?

It's a future proof Format that will take advantage of your 1080p and in 5 years if you want to upgrade your TV you will be ready.

It has a Resolution up to 1920p... So it will still look damn nice on a 1080p.

Not to mention being able to be read by a red laser is going to change many, many, many things..

Including Video Game Consoles.

no matter how nice something is, its not enough to win a format war. blu ray is clearly better than dvd, yet dvd still eats it up for lunch. this new format is going to have to compete with sony, which has a lot more funding, a lot more support, and a lot more connections. movie studios aren't going to pull out of a format that they just started backing this year. i'm sure they have multi-year contracts with sony to support blu ray. so no matter how good this new disc is, it's not going to work. no way in hell.

Blu-ray is clearly better than DVD, on HDTVs. DVD still out sell Blu-rays due to cost of Blu-ray movies, players, and HD tvs. If this format's cost are in line with current DVDs and productions costs to upgrade from DVD is minimal, it is hard to see studios passing on this format. It will have better quailty than current Blu-rays and better protection against priacy. Of course, it would help to know the current production costs for Blu-ray as opposed to DVDs.
