1920p (ultra HD) is actually overkill as well. If the effective viewing area for 1080p is 52"+ imagine the effective viewing area of 1920p. 1080p will probably be the highest effective standard for TV's before the world of true 3D is entered. Another area of importance concerning ultra HD and how pointless it is would be the material available in 1920p. Barely any films on blu-ray take full advantage of 1080p and there are no current plans for a mass broadcast of 1080p content in the near future. Compile this onto the already heavy burden of creating 1080p camera systems that film in native 1080p and again we are several years behind. The list of reasons why 1920p and this new format are already failures could go on forever. The only major positive areas for 1920p would probably be medical imaging to limit excessive malpractice lawsuits (which is already a large force behind the push on 1080p TV's with 26-32" screens). But maybe I'm also putting the cart before the horse as well on this topic.
