basically people like to find a reason to have fun and party. Japan was not just gonna sit around and work a normal day while the rest of the world was having a huge holiday (minus like muslim areas I guess....)

The difference is.. it's different in Japan though.  Shops are open and such etc.  Nothing really starts off until like dinner time.

So you've got all day to do your thing.

Unlike say... the US where even Atheists seem to follow the basic framework.

So i'd be surprised if it affected sales much if at all.
