Capcom also said Resident Evil 4 was gamecube exclusive. Companies like the change their minds.

 

 

There is a difference. At the time RE4 was announced as an exclusive, it appeared that the GameCube would do better than the N64, and no one was predicting the 70% dominance of the PS2. As the PS2 fortunes rose, and the Cube phailed, it made sense financially for them to port it.

With BoF, they have canned the series because they do not think it financially worth while. The only way to change their mind is to release a BoF game and have it do well, which they won't do, because they don't think it will. RPG's simply don't seem to be doing as well this gen in the past, so even that is unlikely to provide incentive to continue the series.
