I played the demo of this game from the Japanese PSN.  It's really hard to get into because there is a lot of tutorial text in japanese from the get-go. So unless you can sufficiently read the text, you don't have a strong idea of what's going on.

Once you start the game, you are already in a battle scene. The system seems overly simplistic to me. [Circle], [Triangle], [Square] and [Cross] all correspond to a special attack which uses AP points. You are supposed to mash them on all your characters to deliver combo attacks that I assume increases damage throughput. No brainer here. Just mash the buttons until all your characters have taken their 'turn' then end your turn.

Graphics wise, nothing out of the ordinary here. I didn't see any effort at all to employ the HD console's capabilities to improve gameplay. This is, technically speaking a Playstation One game.

You look at your party, and it's a combination of the main characters from several lesser-known JRPGs! It's just retarded. These characters were (I assume) properly realised and worked perfectly in their own game worlds. They had a background story, a personality and a purpose in THEIR game. When you throw them all together and somehow conjure up a 'coherent storyline', it would just never achieve the level of storytelling you would get if you created brand new characters for a brand new IP.

Also I can't comment on the voice acting since I encountered none when I got stuck in the early parts. It should be solid seeing as it's the game's main feature.

Clearly this was a game created out of fan-service for fans hoping that if Many niche franchises were strung together, it would create some sales (good for the lesser companies).

Similar to Disgaea 3, X Edge ought to have been a playstation 2 game. It's playstation 3 because the marketing team at Sony said so.

Well, duh. It's a crossover RPG! It's true purpose is to provide tons of fanservice! Which it does.

Yeah lol, hopfully people who dont recignize some of the characters dont ger to disapointed though.

I don't think you'll be dissapointed, just play the demo before. It's going to be a humorous RPG with tons of characters. It'll be best to just try the demo.
