If they could get the costs down, it would be the end of the DVD. Unfortunately, this would be a transitional technology that probably wouldn't make sense for a mainstream application. I like Warner Brothers approach of releasing a SD(DVD quality) digital copy of the movie with the Blu-ray. You can play the digital copy on authorized portable devices while still enjoying the benefits of Blu-ray.
