Rather than create another thread with the same title, I figured I'd just update this one with the two new records broken this week.

First, Wii broke the all-time weekly record for sales in a single region with 1,000,930 units sold in the Americas this week. The previous record was held by PS2 with 960,847 units sold in the Americas the week of Christmas '02.

Second, Wii will break the home-console weekly record held by PS2 of 1,761,665 units, which also occured the week of Christmas '02, once Japan numbers are in. I will edit this post with the final numbers once they come in. Should Japan actually come up short, I will post a youtube video of myself eating crow. :P

Additionally, the DS should break its own all-time weekly record of 2,012,422 units, which it set the week of Christmas '07.  It is already at 1,929,713 without Japan.

Wii has obviously extended its record of WW sales of a home-console in a single year, and DS has done the same for the all-time record.
