They will still brainstorm some ideas but I would like to see them tackle the Icarus franchise. They've earned it. |
Actually, I'd like to see them take on Donkey Kong. Imagine a DK64-esque adventure/platformer with Metroid Prime-quality art design, environments, puzzles, boss fights, etc. My pants would be wet with 2-4 different liquids.
Retro have earned the right to either come up with an original IP if they want to, or otherwise step up to what was traditionally an even bigger Nintendo franchise than Metroid. Kid Icarus should go to an up-and-coming studio, just like Metroid originally went to Retro 6 or 7 years ago.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
