Would it be exclusive? If yes, I believe that is a large pro.

Still, remakes don't sell that much. FFXIII on Ps3 is going to sell what? 3 million? 4 million? That's a lot.

A FF7 remake would probably be large (ala 1.5-2M), but it simply cannot match a completely new game, no matter how much advertisement and such it would get.

As a general note, remakes don't outsell new installments. That (almost) never happens. If it happened with Final Fantasy, there would be something seriously wrong happening to the series.

if a new ip like Uncharted can sell 2.5million copies...FF VII lol wow not even going to argue

I stand by my point. Uncharted sold awesome, but it was an exception from the rule.

I may have undershot FF7 though. I see now that FF3 (DS) sold 2.25M and that IV will sell the same. FF7 is a game that could equal that, if not beat it. 2-2.5M is more reasonable.

Still, FF13 (Ps3) will be selling 4-5M or something. There's no chance a FF7 remake will beat that.

I can't think of any console remake that has sold over 2M, can you?

Yeah, but how many games get remakes on consoles?  DQ5 did, and it went from 2.8 million for the original to 1.65 million for the PS2 remake (and another 1.2 on the DS).

Resident Evil 1 sold over 5 million and the REmake sold less than 1, but then again it was on a failing console that no one bought for mature games.  Code Veronica X, though, outsold CV by 2:1, assuming you count it as more than a port.  If nothing else, though, it shows how badly RE has failed when not associated with the PS brand.

Other than those games, I can't even think of a console game taht got a remake on another console.  Certainly not one that sold 10 million copies the first time through.  FF7 way outsold FF3 and FF4 and those remake are easily 2 million unit sellers (though 4 was probably stiffled by 3 a bit, which would explain its weaker sales) as you have pointed out.  And that's with virtually no advertising.  Print, sure, but you're not seeing those games on TV ads much.  Yet you wouyld see an FF7 remake everywhere.

It's more loved than 3 + 4, it'd get more advertising, and a whole hell of a lot of people are already clamoring for it even as they turn around and insult SE for the deluge of pre-FF7 remakes/rereleases.  Only selling 2.5 million is preposterous.

You do not have the right to never be offended.
