How does Heavenly Sword continue to sell so well even today?  The game is only at 1.33 million LTD, but it's currently selling better than either the ps3 version of Devil May Cry 4 or Ninja Gaiden II!  Both games had far better openings, but their legs are nothing compared to Heavenly Sword's:

Heavenly Sword is beating both games in both overall sales and current weekly sales, despite a number of things:

  • This is DMC4 and NGII's first holiday season, while it is Heavenly Swords' second.
  • Heavenly Sword is still fully priced at $59.99 in NA, while DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden are both $39.99.
  • Heavenly Sword is a new IP, while the others are not.  DMC is the second best selling franchise in its genre after God of War.

Why is this happening?  Is it bundles?  I know there aren't (and never were) any Heavenly Sword bundles in NA, and I tried searching for some that might have happened in Europe, but only found news of one for France back in September 2007, shortly after the game's release.

All I have to say is - congratulations Heavenly Sword!  You deserve a sequel, imo.
