Nintendo dug their own grave in this case, from their leading statements about how "graphics were good enough last gen" to the extreme success of the graphically minimalistic Wii ______ series, and the weakness of the hardware.
Rarely enough do the majority of games on a platform look as good as they could. We don't scrutinize Madden 09 for 360 and frown at it for not looking as good as Gears 2, and why should we? Certainly there are games that look "too bad to accept" on Wii, but they are closer to the PS2 in power than they are to the PS360, and it's natural for only a select few developers to really take advantage of a platform's true power anyway
