I will look past the "offset its lack of good games" comment because I don't believe that is what you were trying to say. Yes the PS3 does hurt Blu-ray to some degree. The PS3 is the best Blu-ray player on the market and it is a great value. The biggest problem for the industry is the pending price cut for the PS3. Currently you can get good stand alone players for less than a PS3, but next year that probably won't be the case. Anyway, the PS3/Sony established Blu-ray as the optical format to replace DVD so the benefits of the PS3 outweigh the harm.
Media reports suggest that stand alone players are selling very well this Christmas and The Dark Knight just sold 1.7 million Blu-ray copies. So I guess the format is doing well.
