As we all know, he sales numbers tell their story - motion controls is the future in gaming. It's also expected, that Sony and M$ are going to copy and improve the motion controls the Wii has. But, since Nintendo is making a sustaining change, upgrading the Wii Remote with Wii Motion Plus, it's killing the future copycats' possible edge over Nintendo already.

Will WM+ effect next gen or not?

It is expected that Microsoft and Sony will try to copy Nintendo on this generation already? They could try, but it will not  be a succes. Why?  Simply because it's too late.  PS3 and xbox360 have usual controllers as standards  and nothing can change that.   If they release  a motion controller, it will only be a gadget , because almost nobody will have  it. Therefore, the games will not  be built around that, because the numbers of motion controller would be too low.

That's why Sony and Microsoft can copy Nintendo on this generation, it could only validate the Nintendo's approach and do nothing against the Wii.

He specifically said "next gen". I know it's being wrongly used to mean this generation but some people do use it correctly to convey the future lineup of consoles.
