The gaming market on the iPod/iPhone is tiny, but it exists and it's growing. The last statement from Apple was that customers download 3 million apps per day, the largest part of them games. Most apps are free, some were for pay. I think we can estimate here that Apple is currently selling games worth 500k to $1 million per day plus an advertising market that may be worth another 500k to $1 million per day.

The market volume of the DS is around $20 million per day (200 million games sold per year according to Nintendo's fiscal reports). So Apple still has a long way to go to be a threat to Nintendo.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.
