People need to realsie that this gen is completley different from previous gens.
The quality ( graphical capabilities , 7.1 audio ) of a game isn't the most important selling point when it comes to a Wii game , the Wii demographic is more focused on the apeal of having fun with the game ( of course the quality of the game may be a factor)
For example the Conduit ; the game that is supposed to the pinnnacle of Wii graphics will struggle to break a million copies if it even reaches that , yes having a good quality Wii game (from a graphics perspective ) is a good thing but it's not neccaserily what the demographic wants.
Mr Wii Demographic could walk into the shop and pick up A. The amazingly beautiful graphical game for the Wii with 5 hours gameplay (quality >quantity remeber :) or B. the pretty crappy looking party game with 150 modes which promises 100+ hours of intense gameplay . The kind of demographic the Wii apeals to will probably opt for the fun or social aspect of a game , graphics generaly won't give you that.
THen you gotta ask the question , "what would be the benefit of high end graphics on low end hardware ?" that would be like optimising the PS2 to push it past God Of War 2 . Yes the Wii is more powerful than the PS2 but how much effort would it require for there to be a noticable diffeence ?. How many Wii games have sold on their graphical abilities if any ?.
Idealy lead development would be on the best selling console but then you'd neglect one market and be offering a selling point that won't neccerily apeal to the new demographic , it wouldn't even be that strong of a selling point.
