Pokemon silver (/gold). I remember, when playing that game, i had finished all of the Johto region and was just wandering around looking for "secret places" i noticed the water back at the home town, and thought "Hey maybe there is something over there" i poke-swam over and landed. When i then checked my map and saw i was in a whole new region.... i nearly had a heart attack.
it was the first pokemon game i owned so i had never played kanto in red/blue/yellow before.
