Kwanzaa - essentially, it's a political holidays that was created some 40 years ago, but apparently a lot of people think it's actually a holiday that has roots in africa and such.
The problem I have with it is that it basically creates the perception that Christmas and Hanukah are "white" holidays and Kwanzaa is a "black" holiday. Even if that wasn't the intent, that's how it ends up coming across, effectively becoming a self imposed segregation for black people.
But y'know, for the purposes of this thread, I don't even care. You celebrate Kwanzaa, that's up to you. I'll still wish you a Merry Christmas and you can still wish me a Joyous Kwanzaa.

It's annoying in the fact that it's an absurd and pointless "censoring" (if I may). Why wouldn't it be perturbing to be pressured into so obviously blotting out any reference to the holiday? |
This. If you WANT to say Happy Holidays, that's fine, but if you WANT to say Merry Christmas, and feel you can't, that's a problem.
