Sony out of the market = Good for everyone. And I mean it.
Look at the war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray... good thing there is (at last) a winner (Blu-Ray). As long as there is no clear winner, the mass market will never go on and adopt the new tech.
Now that there is only ONE HD MEDIUM for movies:
- Consumers buy Blu-Ray without fear. - Blu-Ray sales are growing fast. - Studios releases more movies on Blu-Ray - The cycles goes on.
The same thing apply to gaming: But... There is no clear winner in the HD GAMING war. People, instead of jumpin in, are waiting... and this hurts the gaming evolution.
Less sales, less devs profits, less ground-breakin barriers, less risks taken, more static evolution of the interactive entertainment. One medium, Good for everyone.
Who cares if THE HD console stay at 400$ the whole generation. People wants to invest in something that will last. And for now, nobody knows where the HD gaming is going. Uncertain territories... no investments.
We need a winner as soon as possible. For gamers... and for developers.
